Simple Software Asset Management through a Boxed Solution

The term Software Asset Management (SAM) can be found on the agenda of almost every organisation. Topics such as Sarbanes Oxley, the need to meet audit requirements and the continual pressure on organisations to reduce costs, are causing organisations of all sizes to address the question of SAM.

Insight has recognised the need to provide a simple SAM solution to our Mid Market clients (up to 500 auditable devices) to allow them to implement a comprehensive SAM solution in-house. For larger client organisations, Insight provides a full project definition delivered by a fully qualified SAM Sales Specialist.

Elements of SAM in a Box


Inventory Tool - MicroAUDIT is the Centennial inventory tool utilised by Insight to deliver our SAM in a Box offering. The data from Centennial is clean and reliable and the tool is simple to implement. The license supplied is perpetual.

Reconciliation of Inventory with Purchase History Data - This involves the implementation Insight’s License Reconciliation Service (LRS) to determine your current licensing status and deliver full license visibility. This service is further detailed on our website and within the LRS fact sheet.

License Repository Tool - The output from the reconciliation will be an Insight-developed working spreadsheet to hold and change purchase history and licensing information following the LRS.

Tool Installation and Training - Insight has a number of fully qualified Centennial Certified engineers based in the UK who will carry out the tool implementation and training over a 3-day period at the client site.

The MicroAUDIT tool will be installed on the first day and deployed to the client agents. Training will take place on the second and third days, which will follow at least one week after the initial implementation of the Centennial tool. Training will be provided using demo data and also live data on the client site.

Policy Documentation Templates - Insight will provide comprehensive standard Policy & Procedure template documentation for use within the client organisation. These templates are essential to any SAM implementation.

Best Practice Documentation - Insight will provide in-depth documentation detailing advice on industry best practice for SAM.

SAM Training Workshop - The SAM training workshop will consist of a one day event that will take place at Insight’s Uxbridge office. The training will fully describe industry-accredited SAM practices and provides the opportunity to ask questions and share information. These workshops will be delivered on a quarterly basis by Insight’s qualified SAM consultants.
